Leo Lesetest - Writing skills made easy
Recently we had the opportunity to work with Dipl. Päd. Claudia Scherling in order to update her online reading diagnosis tool Leo Lesetest.
Leo Lesetest is a reading competence test for pupils in grades 2 to 6. It assesses six relevant reading skills, including letter-sound confidence, reading accuracy and syllable structure. Designed for schools, therapists and parents, the test provides precise answers to children's individual problem areas as well as recommendations for targeted support.
The application had already existed, but as an obsolete C++ application that urgently needed a makeover. A landing page for the product was also missing. In order to boost sales, it was important to create a website that clearly presented the concept, areas of application and prices, among other things.
The first step was to get the application up to scratch. The outdated C++ application was completely discarded, and in its place a completely new web application was created using Vue.js (in the front end) and Nest.js (in the back end). The result: a state-of-the-art application that runs on both PCs and tablets and enables pupils to complete the reading test on their own and independently.
Each pupil receives a personal evaluation after the tests, while the class receives a consolidated class evaluation. The evaluation shows problem areas with potential for improvement and, thanks to our new application, is made available to teachers or therapists as a PDF.
The content on the landing page that we created in the next step is managed using Strapi, the content management system. There, customers of the software find information as well as the online store and checkout, which was also created by Alphaport.
